KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Nepali Congress (NC) President Thapa has launched an online portal titled ‘mutton.world, turning a long-running political taunt about him into a personal brand and communication platform.
The initiative is seen as a bold move by Thapa, who has often been ridiculed by opponents after he once applied for a subsidy to operate a goat farm. Suspecting impropriety, critics labelled him “khasi” or “bakhra”—literally meaning goat. His team now appears to be reframing that weakness as a strength, also invoking the English acronym “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time).

The portal archives his speeches, writings and public interactions and also attempts to clarify the so-called “goat farm” episode. Thapa says he withdrew the subsidy application and cancelled the agreement after becoming chair of Parliament’s Agriculture Committee at the time.
“Recognising a conflict of interest and cancelling the agreement myself is the strongest proof of integrity,” the portal quotes him as saying.
Highlighting a speech delivered during a special party convention, the portal emphasises his line: “Nepali Congress is not a party of the submissive or the dead; it is a party of living people.” It states the party’s work will proceed in two phases — first revival, then a guarantee of good governance.
Thapa has also announced that the party’s election manifesto will be made public through the same portal in the coming days.
