Dare Devils knock out Friends XI
KATHMANDU: Dare Devils defeated Friends XI by seven wickets on Wednesday in a group stage match of the Riddhi Siddhi Marwadi T20 Cricket Tournament. The Friends XI elected to bat first at the Modern Indian School Ground, Chobhar but was all out for 101 runs in 19.1 overs. Naresh Sharma scored unbeaten 33 runs while man-of-the-match Purnendu Ghosh claimed four wickets.
Chasing the small total, Dare Devils met the target in 15.3 overs losing three wickets. Aditya Agrawal was the top scorer for Dare Devils with 28 runs off 44 balls. With the second consecutive loss, Friends XI the team is out of the tournament.
AVM champs TT
KATHMANDU: Adarsh Vidya Mandir (AVM) on Wednesday lifted the team title of Cambridge Cup First Valley-wide Interschool Table Tennis Tournament with four gold, three silver and six bronze medals. The last day of the tournament saw Pradip Rokka of Prime win junior open boys´ singles title and Rabin Sadh of Neologian took home gold in U-14 boys´ singles. Rokka outclass Manikumar Lama of AVM in straight sets 11-4, 11-5, 13-11. Similarly, Sadh recorded a hard fourth 4-11, 13-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-8 win over Prasanna Khadka of AVM. Altogether, 250 players had participated in 14 categories in the four-day event.
Ideal, Midland victorious
KATHMANDU: Host Ideal and Midland emerged victorious in senior boys´ category on Wednesday during Second Ideal Inter-school Basketball Tournament being held in the capital. Ideal toiled hard to beat Cambridge Public 18-16. Ashis Tamang scored nine points for Ideal. Midland registered a hard fought 12-11 win over Neric B. Manish Tamang contributed seven points for the winning side.
Golden Gate, Morgan in quarterfinals
KATHMANDU: Golden Gate, Morgan and Nawajiwan entered into the quarterfinal of Third BST Cup Inter-college Boys Basketball Tournament on Wednesday held in the capital. Golden Gate saw off Bagmati 55-46 and advanced into quarterfinal as the winner of group A. Dipesh Neupane scored 19 points for winning side. Bagmati also secured place in last eight as the runner up of group.
In another match, Niraj KC scored 22 points for Morgan as it thrashed Sagamatha 63-28. Similarly, Nawajiwan edged past U2 55-37. Ajay KC contributed 27 points for winning side. Golden Gate will play against Lincoln, Nobel against Bagmati, NASA against National and Nawajiwan against Morgan in the quarterfinal.
