Shuttlers picked in preliminary phase

KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Nepal Badminton Association on Wednesday picked up five men and three women players during the preliminary selection for the 12th South Asian Games to be held in India on February 6-16.

Sudeep Sedhai, Sanjib Khadka, Nabin Shrestha, Deepak Bohara and Irfan Ansari are the male players, while Megha Chand, Sunaina Mukhiya and Anu Rai are the female players selected for the second round.

The players were selected on the basis of results of the Pushpa Lal Ranking Badmonton Tournament.

The selected players rank among the top 16 in senior level, with the exclusion of the top five players of the national teams in the men's and women's sections.

Ratnajit Tamang, Bikash Shrestha, Dipesh Dhami, Sajan Krishna Tamrakar and Bishnu Katuwal are in the men's national team, while Sara Devi Tamang, Nangsal Devi Tamang, Shiksha Shrestha, Amita Giri and Jessica Gurung are in the women's national team. Now, five players each for the men's and women's teams will be selected after second round of selection event.
