Rastrakavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire who was at Pulchowk-based central office of the Sajha Thursday to attend the general assembly expressed his serious concern over the present situation the organisation. Ghimire who started his professional career from the Sajha itself is its shareholder too.He expressed concern over the government apathy towards rehabilitating the organisation.
Culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi and noted litterateur Bairagi Kainla were also present on the occasion.
The organisation has a debt of Rs 400 million. It has been clamouring for the government assistance to get it restored.
Rastrakavi Ghimire opposed to suggestions given by some of its shareholder that the organisation be taken out from the financial crunch even by selling its physical property. The organisation has not been able to pay its employees for the past nine months.
The General Assembly reached to a conclusion that unnecessary political interference and appointments of members in its Board of Directors on the basis of political sharing and shifting the task of publishing government textbooks to the private sector were the main reasons behind bringing the organistion to the present situation.
Sajha shareholders demanded that a probe report on financial irregularities suffered by the organisation in the past and audit reports of the past eight years be made public.
Publication Chair and General Manager Dolindra Prasad Sharma argued the organisation was extra effortful to get back to the previous status, pledging to audit reports and the probe report through organising a special general assembly within the next six months.
The Publication Censor Board formed under the Nepal Bhasha Prakashini Samiti by the then government to promote the Nepali language and art was later transformed into the Sajha Publication.RSS
