KATHMANDU, Oct 28: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday advised Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal to go for fresh elections to end the current impasse.

During his meeting with the leaders at his residence in Shital Niwas, Yadav stated that fresh CA polls would also be in line with the Supreme Court ruling and urged them to forge consensus before Tihar festival on ending the crisis. [break]

After the meeting, NC President Koirala, while talking to reporters, said he told the state head that even his party is in favor of new elections as the reinstatement of CA is now not possible.

Right after his meeting with Koirala, President Yadav had talks with UML Chairman Khanal. Emerging from the meeting, Khanal said he put forth his view before the president that a consensus government should be formed to end the existing stalemate.

A day earlier, Yadav had consulted senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.
