KATHMANDU, June 1: Senior leaders of three major political parties— Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist)—and Madhesh-based parties have agreed to form a national consensus government so as to revive the constitution making process and intensify the post-quake reconstruction campaign.

The leaders committed to the same in the meeting held at Prime Minister's Official Residence at Baluwatar on Monday.

Following the meeting, Coordinator of Madhesi Front Bijay Kumar Gachhadar pointed out the need of uniting all political parties and people for reconstruction and resettlement programs, as the country witnessed heavy losses to the quake.

He further added that the leaders committed to ensure that the reconstruction mission is carried out effectively along with a political settlement to deal with the differences so far.

He further added that the country should be led by a national consensus government for at least three to four years for the reconstructing campaign.

In response to media persons' query, leader Gachhdar said they would try to issue the new constitution within the next one month to give the people an atmosphere of optimism after formulating a national consensus government.

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, UML chair KP Sharma Oli, UCPN (Maoist) chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Front Coordinator Gachhdar were present in the meeting. RSS
