KATHMANDU, Jan 29: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has said that a partial influence of a western low-pressure system is currently affecting the country.
According to the DHM, hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces are experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while the rest of the country remains partly cloudy. Light rainfall has been recorded in some areas of Bagmati Province and at one or two places in Gandaki Province.
Heavy rain and snowfall likely in several regions today
The DHM said fog is likely in many parts of the Tarai during the daytime. While the weather will remain partly cloudy in the high-hill and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, the rest of the country is expected to see mainly fair weather.
There is a possibility of light snowfall and rainfall at one or two places in the high hills and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Similarly, fog is expected in some parts of the Tarai during the night. Partly cloudy conditions are forecast for the high-hill and Himalayan regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim, as well as Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country will remain mostly clear.
Light snowfall and rainfall are again likely at one or two places in the high-hill and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
The DHM has urged all concerned to remain cautious, warning that snowfall and rainfall could affect daily life, tourism, health, as well as air and road transportation.
