Under "Operation Quack," the CIB squad arrested 47-year-old Sujit Kumar Shrestha, who was working as a doctor at the government hospital, from his residence in Chunikhel-1 of Thankot Municipality.
According to the CIB, Shrestha had presented fake Intermediate in Science (I.SC.) certificate to get admission in the MBBS program. The CIB has intensified Operation Quack following increasing complaints over people with dubious credentials becoming doctors and risking the health of the public. So far 13 doctors have been arrested for submitting fake documents at different stages of their medical education and career.
The police also said that they were combing various parts of the country to identify people who have used fake academic certificates to get jobs at hospitals. During the operation carried out with the support of Nepal Medical Council and Higher Secondary Education Board, most of the arrested doctors were found to have obtained registration certificates on the basis of fake credentials. Those arrested in the past were Ram Babu Giri, Pashupati Chaudhary, Kamarul Haqq, Tulasi Kumar Mahato, Mohammad Ahammad Siddiqui, Santosh Kumar Yadav, Kalyan Biswas, Binita Yadav, Bhagwan Kewat Mallah, Shailendra Kumar Mahato, Afajal Hussain and Shyam Babu Sah.
