LONDON, June 13: A restaurant is dishing up a curry to spice up diners’ love lives – containing a hidden ingredient dubbed the Himalayan Viagra, Bethan Dorsett reports for theasiannews.co.uk. [break]

Yawan Giri, owner of Altrincham eatery Swaad, shipped in the sexy substance from his native Nepal and is serving it cooked in a creation he calls the Karma Sutra.

And while the meal, served with chicken, lamb or prawn, is a favorite with diners at the Regent Road venue, he says many more prefer to savor it in the privacy of their homes.

He said: "I don’t know who’s buying it, whether it’s men or women.

"It seems to be more popular through takeaway – maybe people are embarrassed to order it in the restaurant!"

The curry’s hidden ingredient is yarsagumba – a rare herb with aphrodisiac qualities used to treat conditions such as impotence.

Yawan, 45, said: "It’s very rare and very expensive to get in my home country.

"It is known that it is good for health, in particular sexual health, and for the immune system."

Yawan buys the herb in bulk on his regular trips to Nepal, where his wife and four children live.

Swaad is his first restaurant and only opened last month – but he arrives in Altrincham with plenty of experience.

Having moved to the UK more than a decade ago, Yawan worked as a chef in exclusive Mayfair venue Benarus, run by Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar. But he dreamed of opening his own business.

He added: "I have worked very hard everywhere and now I want to do something for me.

"The dishes, including the Karma Sutra, are not the things you find at many restaurants.
