Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) had emptied the dam of the 144-megawatt project on Sunday morning fearing flash flood, after Kali Gandaki River was blocked for hours following landslide, to protect the generation plant.
"Doors of the dam were opened until muddy water carrying boulders was flown out. We started collecting water at around 3 pm and started generation," Sher Singh Bhat, chief of Generation Department of NEA, said.Water flow in the river has already come to normal level (140 cubic meter per second). The project suffered loss of around Rs 21.6 million due to shutdown of the powerhouse, according to Bhat.
