KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Janakpur Knights have won the inaugural edition of the Nepal Kabaddi League (NKL), securing the title by defeating Kathmandu Mavericks in a thrilling final on Friday.
Janakpur emerged victorious with a 45-41 win in a highly competitive and exciting match held at the Covered Hall of Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor.

Despite trailing 25-19 in the first half, Kathmandu made a strong comeback in the second half, taking a 22-20 lead and later leveling the score at 34-34. However, they could not hold onto their advantage, even after leading 41-37 in the final moments. Janakpur, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament, executed its strategy effectively by neutralizing Kathmandu’s marquee player and captain, Ghanshyam Rokamagar.
As champions, Janakpur received a cash prize of Rs 500,000, while runner-up Kathmandu took home Rs 200,000. The best player in each category were awarded Rs 25,000.
