SOLUKHUMBU, Jan 31: A fire broke out at Nawa Bahadur Rai's house in Devku, Mapya Dudh Koshi Rural Municipality-4, Solukhumbu, on Thursday night. The fire destroyed the house and its contents, including cash and gold, causing damages worth about Rs 9.89 million.
A police team from the temporary police post at Kaku attempted to control the fire at Nawa Bahadur Rai's house, however they were not able to gouge out the fire before it caused the property loss. According to the District Police Office (DPO), Solukhumbu, the fire broke out at the house at 11:17 pm on Thursday.

Chief of the DPO Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dwarika Prasad Ghimire, informed Republica that the house was completely damaged by the time the police team and locals started gouging it out using water hose. He added that the police are yet to determine the cause of the fire accident.
“The house was uninhabited when the fire broke out,” DSP Ghimire said, “Therefore, we are yet to determine how the fire broke out.”
DSP Ghimire had reached the site on Friday and monitored and inspected the damage caused to the house.
