IN PURSUIT OF WATER

Nepal may be touted as the world's second richest country in water resources but looking at the state of the capital's water supply one would never suspect so. In Kathmandu, water sources need to be hunted and as the capital's population swells, its people dig deeper.

Cue in the water hunters, whose water-seeking instincts have been honed over the decades from tapping water source underneath the ground. Armed with only their ropes and spades, they dig hundreds of wells a year.

Ram Bahadur Gurung and his family have built a life doing the same. His kids play around the concrete well rings, his wife dries their clothes nearby as he goes as deep as 60 feet to uncover new sources of water in a rapidly drying city.
