Govt-JICA collaborate to improve water supply

KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Government has signed an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for improving the water supply management systems in semi-urban areas of the country.

As per the agreement, the JICA would provide technical assistance to the government and help strengthen the National Water Supply and Sanitation Center (NWSSTC). The Project will cover 67 small cities including Bardiya, Dang, Nawalparsi, Rupandehi, Lamjung, Bara, Dhanusa, Sarlahi, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, Jhapa and Morang, among others.

"It aims to cover as many as 159 small cities nationwide after the completion of the project," read the statement. The project, which will continue for five years, will also develop the capacity of national water supply and sanitation training center.
