The critically injured are undergoing treatment in Paschimanchal Regional Hospital while the others have returned back to the jail after being treated, informed Kaski police. [break]
Buddhi Bhujel, 35 and Sunil Ranabhat, 30 have sustained serious injuries, said Ravindra Poudel, inspector and Kaski police spokesperson. The brawl ensued between two groups inside the jail, informed Poudel.
"From our preliminary investigation, we are assuming that the fight ensued between two groups of prisoners regarding personal dispute inside the jail. However, investigation onto the matter is on," Poudel said.

Security inside the prison had been stepped up to take the situation under control. Kaski Chief District Officer, Basanta Raj Gautam had reached the prison to take stock of the situation.
"The brawl took place due to their internal dispute, there is no security threat," Gautam said, adding, "However, the real reasons that cause the mishap would be revealed after thorough investigation."
A three member probe committee has been set up under Ananta Bahadur Silwal, deputy chief district officer to investigate the case. Jailer Sunil Adhikari and Poudel are other two members in the probe committee.
352 inmates are currently jailed in the Kaski prison which has capacity of only 60 prisoners.
