KATHMANDU, Jan 22: A total of 21 independent candidates have filed their candidacy for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.
According to the Election Commission (EC), the constituency has the largest number of independent candidates contesting for the upcoming general election followed by Constituency-4 of Kathmandu district, which has 19 independent candidates.
Independent candidates forge electoral alliance in Dang
In Kathmandu Constituency-5, Pradip Paudel of the Nepali Congress, Ishwar Pokharel of the CPN (UML) and Sasmit Pokharel of Rastriya Swatantra Party are in the electoral race from the political parties. Likewise, Kamal Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nisha Adhikari of Gatisheel Loktantrik Party and Nimesh Khanal of Nepal Communist Party (United), will be contesting from the same constituency.
Nepal Communist Party’s Khanal said he filed his candidacy as the elected leaders in the past did not do notable development in the region. He has forwarded the agenda of ultra metro city and good governance to contest in the election.
As per the EC, 10 independent candidates of Kathmandu Constituency-5 are of the 25-39 age group. They have come up with the agendas of technology, start-ups and good governance.
