The DoC team found Sajha Sankalpa store of selling White Rabbit and Ganesh Khadya Kirana Store of selling Runiu Candy. The samples of the candies were confiscated by the team and the stores were instructed to immediately stop selling the candies.
The DoC team also inspected Unique Store and Dahal Traders in the course of inspection on Sunday.
"During the inspection, we found the stores of selling date expired products with prices re-written above the printed price of some products. In some cases, labels were erased and edible and non-edible items were kept together, while some stores did not have price menu board and certificate issued by the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Meteorology (NBSM). Some shops were not even registered," said Prem Prasad Paudel, director of DoC.
The monitoring team also found Unique Store of selling gram flour puffs (bhujiya) of different companies with overwritten manufactured dates. Similarly, Dahal Traders was selling date expired Green Dalla Chilli sauce and keeping edible and non-edible items together. The team destroyed five boxes of the expired sauce from the store.
Likewise, Sajha Sankalpa store was selling Shiva Shankar Bhujiya by replacing the name with the name of a "fake company". The proprietors of the stores were instructed to keep the price menu board within three days and appear in person at the department within seven days for clarification.
