The proposal, once approved by the Administrative Committee of the cabinet, would mean that the government offices other than those providing electricity, communications, water supply and other essential services will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays. [break]
The Administrative Committee is set to take a decision on the matter on Friday. Joint Secretary at Home Ministry Bhola Prasad Siwakoti said the ministry in coordination with the Ministry of General Administration had forwarded the proposal to the Thursday´s cabinet meeting for endorsement.
Currently, the proposal is under discussion in the Administration Committee. The Load-shedding Reduction Work Plan 2069 BS had proposed the five working days plan at government offices as part of the efforts to address the problem of load-shedding.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun said the cabinet meeting endorsed the organizational structures of various 28 district hospitals under Ministry of Health. Likewise, the meeting decided to send the report submitted by the probe panel formed to investigate the murder of Supreme Court Justice Rana Bahadur Bam to concerned ministries for implementation.
Among other things, the cabinet meeting also decided to entrust Lieutenant General Nepal Bhusan Chanda with the responsibility to work as acting chief of Nepal Army in the absence of Chief of Army Staff Gaurav SJB Rana.
Rana is leaving for Australia on Saturday to attend the 15th annual Chiefs of Defense Conference organized jointly by the US Pacific Command and Australian Defense Force. Rana is scheduled to return home on November 10.
