KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Banaras Literature Festival (BLF) 2026 hosted a signature session on Made in Nepal: Lessons in Business Building from the Land of Everest by renowned Nepali industrialist Binod Chaudhary, bringing together business leadership, literature and long-form public dialogue at one of India’s most respected cultural platforms.

The session, titled ‘From Everest to Enterprise’, featured an in-depth conversation led by noted commentators Atul K. Thakur and Anshuman Rai, who explored themes of entrepreneurship, institution-building and the evolving idea of leadership in emerging economies.

During the discussion held in Varanasi, India, Dr Chaudhary reflected on his journey from Nepal to the global stage, the creation of enterprises across continents, and the philosophy underpinning Made in Nepal. He spoke about resilience, risk-taking and long-term value creation, positioning entrepreneurship not merely as ambition but as responsibility and sustained commitment.

The engagement formed part of BLF’s broader vision of situating complex and contemporary narratives at the intersection of culture, ideas and public discourse, while recognising business leadership as a subject of intellectual and literary relevance.

Earlier in the day, Made in Nepal was formally unveiled at the festival, marking its inclusion in the core literary programming of BLF 2026. Dr Chaudhary attended the festival as Guest of Honour and participated in the inaugural ceremony alongside leading cultural and public figures.

Set against the historic and spiritual backdrop of Varanasi, the book launch brought together literature, leadership and lived experience, underscoring the convergence of tradition and ambition that mirrors the book’s central narrative.

Made in Nepal traces Dr Chaudhary’s rise from modest beginnings in Nepal to the creation of a globally respected business empire spanning multiple continents and industries. The book offers insights into the mindset, discipline and long-term vision that transformed local ambition into international impact.

Blending personal narrative with strategic thinking, the book goes beyond a conventional business memoir to reveal the human decisions behind key turning points, including risks taken, setbacks faced and beliefs that sustained growth amid uncertainty.

The launch in Varanasi carried particular resonance, reflecting a city where heritage and progress coexist—much like the book’s exploration of roots meeting reach and local identity intersecting with global scale.

Dr Chaudhary also interacted with readers during a book-signing session, engaging with students, entrepreneurs, business leaders and festival attendees. The interaction made Made in Nepal one of the most discussed literary moments of Banaras Lit Fest 2026.

Published by Harper Business, Made in Nepal (272 pages, INR 699) features candid and engaging anecdotes from Dr Chaudhary’s journey across more than 200 businesses worldwide, including cement, hospitality, telecom, banking and pharmaceuticals.

Dr Chaudhary, the founder of CG Corp Global and Nepal’s first billionaire as recognised by Forbes, is also a philanthropist, politician and author. He received an honorary doctorate from Sri Sri University, Odisha, in 2015 in recognition of his philanthropic contributions.
