Army recorded 107 runs win over Nepal Engineering College while Macchapuchhre defeated G-Force Cricket Academy by 26 runs at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur to secure the last eight places.
Sharad Vesawakar's half century and Jitendra Mukhiya's four-wicket haul helped Army record the convincing win over Nepal Engineering College.
After posting 161 runs target, Army restricted Nepal Engineering College on 53 runs in 16.1 overs as Jitendra claimed four wickets giving away only 12 runs in his four-over spell. Similarly, Chandra Saud bagged three wickets and Avinash Karn picked up two wickets to restrict Nepal Engineering College on the low score.
Avinash was the most economic bowler as he gave away only six runs in four overs, which included a maiden over, while Chandra conceded eight runs maintaining a maiden over as well.
Nishant Gadhtoa (17 off 37) and Pramod Acharya (15 off 23) were the only batsmen to reach double figures for Nepal Engineering College.
Earlier, winning the toss and opting to bat first, Army scored 160/5 in allotted 20 overs with Sharad remaining not out on 59 runs off 48 balls. He scored eight boundaries.
Sagar Pun scored 29 runs playing 27 balls while Anil Mandal added 20 runs facing 16 balls. Sagar and Anil hit four boundaries each.
Palden Lama of Nepal Engineering College bagged three wickets and Pramod Acharya took a wicket.
In another match, Macchapuchhre posted 163 runs target against G-Force and restricted the opponent on 136/5.
Hashim Ansari's quick-fire 63 runs off 39 balls went in vain as G-Force could not meet the target. Hashim smashed two sixes and seven fours. Samir Nepal remained not out on 22 runs off 19 balls and Saurav Pela scored 16 runs from 27 balls.
There was a 73-run stand between Hashim and Saurav for the second wicket but that was not enough as the tail-enders failed to impress with bat.
Earlier, Macchapuchhre scored 162/3 after Raju Poudel remained not out on 44 runs facing 25 balls that included three sixes and two fours, while skipper Deepesh Khatri scored 40 runs from 42 balls, that included two fours.
Karan KC (23 runs off 14 balls), Akash Thapa (21 runs off 31 balls) and Ishan Singh Baniya (21 runs off 9 balls) were other batsmen to reach double figures.
