KATHMANDU, Jan 14 : The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a moderate gain of 1.52 points, closing at 2,641.43 on Wednesday. Gains were driven by banking, life insurance, manufacturing & processing, microfinance and other non-specified sectors.
The finance sector index rose the most, by 2.55 percent. Investors in 125 companies with rising share prices benefited.
Locals make 'fresh demands' to Upper Madi Hydropower Project
Super Madi Hydropower shares surged the most, up 9.94 percent, followed by Three Star Hydropower, which gained 8.23 percent.
Despite the index increase, total turnover fell compared to the previous day. Tuesday’s turnover was Rs 699 million, while Wednesday recorded Rs 620.94 million.
The highest traded shares included Radhi Hydropower at Rs 26.24 million and Union Hydropower at Rs 23.26 million.
Meanwhile, investors in 124 companies with falling share prices faced losses. Shares of 11 companies remained unchanged, with ICFC Finance debentures declining the most, by 3.30 percent.
