Apex short film competition 2012

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The Apex College of New Baneshwor organized a two-day workshop followed by a short film competition. The meet concluded on Monday, January 16.

The workshop was held last September with two phases to educate the participants in the field of camera angles, direction, script, sound and music by Keshab Pandey, director, and about sounds and its effects in filmmaking by Pradeep Upadhyay, sound engineer.[break]



The theme of the competition was “Who Are We” wherein eight short films were short-listed for the finals out of the total of 20 short films that were submitted. The jury’s criteria were based on the aspects of direction, sound, editing, and camera.



The judges for the event were film director Keshab Pandey, sound engineer Pradeep Upadhyay, film editor Nimesh Shrestha, and photographer Shyam Mohan Shrestha.







There were four winners, including the Most Popular Short Film, and the first prize went to Sisan Baniya and group who also received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 8,000.



The second prize winners were Anup Sapkota and group who were rewarded with Rs. 5,000, and the third position was secured by Biplav Gyawali and group who got Rs. 3,000.



The winners also received certificates and trophies from Vinaya Kumar Sharma, Director of Academic Affairs at Apex.



The chief guest at the occasion was Narayan Puri, CEO of Himalaya TV.
