Govt appoints 11 Secys, transfers 2 AIGs, 17 DIGs

KATHMANDU, Oct. 18
: The Government has transferred Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture Development, Dr Ganesh Raj Joshi to the post of Secretary at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).



A decision to this end was taken by the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday evening.[break]



Likewise, eleven of the 33 Joint-secretaries of the Government were promoted to the post of Secretary.



Those promoted include Narayan Kumar Malegu, Uddav Baskota, Janardan Nepal, Laxman Kumar Pokharel, Suman Prasad Sharma, Shanta Raj Subedi, Atmaram Pandey, Rana Bahadur Shrestha, Sharada Prasad Trital, Narendra Dahal and Shanta Bahadur Shrestha, according to Spokesperson of the Government and Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishore Yadav.



Likewise, Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Krishna Hari Banskota has been transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and Narayan Gopal Malegu to the post of Secretary of the same Office.



Shanta Raj Subedi has been given the responsibility of the Finance Ministry, Laxman Kumar Pokharel the Office of the Vice-president, Jaya Mukunda Khala the Ministry of Agriculture Development, Rana Bahadur Shrestha the Ministry of Land Reforms and Management and Shanta Bahadur Shrestha the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.



Likewise, Krishna Gyawali has been given the responsibility of the Industry Ministry, Dinesh Hari Adhikari the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Dhruva Sharma the Office of the President, Sushil Ghimire the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction and Hari Nepal the Ministry of Youth and Sports.



The cabinet meeting today also approved the invitation extended to President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to attend the convocation of the Varanasi Hindu University to be held o December 25, and also to accept the honour to be bestowed on the President by the University, Minister Yadav said.



Similarly, Dr Yadav Bista and Dr Bhanu Chandra Shaha have been promoted to the post of Brigadier General (Technical) of the Nepali Army.



The meeting today also appointed Laxman Humagain to the post of General Manager of Nepal Television for a term of four years while Dipak Rauniyar was appointed the Executive Director of the Hydropower Investment and Development Company Limited for a four-year term.



Likewise, the cabinet decided to observe Mangsir 1 of every year in the Lunar Calendar as the National Tax Day and honour the tax administration officials making significant contribution to the field of tax administration.



The Council of Ministers also approved a grant assistance of Rs. 10 million for the construction of the office building of the Federation of Nepali Journalists.
