The move comes amid an escalating internal rift after party general secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma announced plans to convene a special general convention on January 11 and 12. With both factions pressing ahead with their respective preparations, the party appears to be heading toward deeper internal polarization.
The parallel meetings by the Deuba-led establishment are seen as a strategic response to assert organizational strength and consolidate support at the grassroots level.
