Work to beautify Kohalpur square begins

KOHALPUR, July 11: Work to beautify Kohalpur square with a view to promoting it as a tourist destination has begun.

Kohalpur is a beautiful town which links different hilly districts in mid-western center with Nepalgunj. Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development and Kohalpur Town Development Committee has set aside Rs 1.2 million to develop the area.The construction work, which began from mid-July, is going on in full swing. As per the plan, flowering plants and small trees will be planted in the inner alleys of the square.

Govinda Prasad Paudel, member of Chauraha Construction Committee, said a foundation will be installed in the pond which is being built at the center of the intersection. "We are removing Sissau trees. We will then dig a pond, install a fountain with lighting system, and plant seasonal flowers," Paudel added. "Once construction work is complete, it will be an important tourist destination in Kohalpur."

Tek Narayan Bhusal, president of Kohalpur Town Development Committee, said the committee is investing Rs 450,000 for development of the square. Similarly, the ministry and Kohalpur Municipality are giving Rs 500,000 and Rs 300,000, respectively, to beautify the square.

"As Kohalpur is entry point for different districts in mid and far western regions, we are trying to make the town more beautiful," added Bhusal.
