KATHMANDU, August 29: Kohalpur remains tense since early this morning as a team led by Mayor Purna Prasad Acharya tried to remove illegal structures built by encroaching upon public land in the town. The mayor-led team was deployed from early morning to remove the illegal structures and towers along the New Road in Kohalpur.
According to the police, a dispute arose after locals pelted stones on the dozer that reached the bus park area after demolishing three to four towers illegally built in New Road in Kohalpur.

Ain Bahadur Malla, head of the local police office, Kohalpur, said that the local residents protested as the dozer was suddenly used without giving them any notice.
Mayor Acharya said that the locals obstructed the work while the municipality tried to demolish the illegal structures. "We were removing the illegal structures and towers when they came suddenly and tried to create obstacles. Now the work has stopped due to the obstruction," he informed Republica.
He has also appealed to the conscious citizens of Kohalpur through social media and requested everyone to be present at Kolhapur Bus Park and support the campaign. "The campaign to end the corruption and mafia system has started," Mayor Acharya said.
