Demolition of structures from PADT's usurped property, committee to scout new land

KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, has directed Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) to demolish the illegal structures built on the land of PADT. He has given the instruction to immediately remove the structures built on the land of the Trust.

KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, has directed Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) to demolish the illegal structures built on the land of PADT. He has given the instruction to immediately remove the structures built on the land of the Trust.


In PADT’s board meeting, Minister Kirati also requested to remove the illegal structures and the houses and other structures built by people who have usurped them after completing the legal process. Minister Kirati said that a high-level committee led by a former secretary will be formed to search for lost and usurped lands.


People have usurped  plots belonging to PADT previously identified as plot no 93, now encompassing plot numbers 102, 333, 335, 110, 419, 311, 286, 112, 117, and 283 within Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8. Houses have been constructed on 3 ropanis 6 aanas  1 paisa land area.

Similarly, it has been found that people have been using structures made by usurping the previously designated plot no 51. These constructions now occupy current plots 143, 144, 65, and 28, encompassing an area of 3 ropanis and 8 annas of land in ward 3 of the metropolis, Bhagwansthan. Additionally, individuals have obtained ownership of plots no 135, 180, and 83 in Lama Pokhari, situated in Siphal, and are utilizing them accordingly.


The ministry has also decided to set up a committee to search for the lost 29 ropani out of 534 ropani of land in the name of Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) located in Gothatar.


The board has decided to completely remove the structures on that land and submit the technical evaluation to the metropolis. Balen Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has said that he is in charge of vacating the structures built on the land as soon as the technical evaluation is done.


Similarly, a five-member study committee has been formed under the leadership of Narayan Prasad Subedi, treasurer of the fund, to investigate the truth about the Aarti at Pashupati Aryaghat and terminate the decision.
