KATHMANDU, March 1: For the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, ten out of Mustang’s 39 polling stations have been placed on the sensitive list. The decision was made based on geographical remoteness and the number of voters.
Although ten polling stations have been categorized as sensitive, Chief District Officer Ajita Sharma said their names cannot be disclosed for security reasons. “The District Security Committee has identified some polling stations as sensitive for various reasons. We have kept their identities confidential and are giving them special priority with all necessary security arrangements,” she said. The situation at the remaining polling stations is reported to be normal.
To ensure election security, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force, along with 312 temporary election police personnel, have already been deployed to all polling stations in Mustang. Similarly, 216 election staff members are scheduled to reach their respective polling centers with voting materials by March 2.
