Province-wise MP meetings underway: Harka Sampang criticizes ‘closed-door’ format

KATHMANDU, March 30: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has started province-wise discussions with members of parliament following consultations with his ministers. As of Monday, talks are ongoing with MPs from Karnali Province, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.



Meanwhile, Harka Sampang, chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party and MP from Koshi Province, announced that he would not attend the meeting called by the Prime Minister. Writing on social media, he said the meeting was a “closed-door session” held without prior efforts to convene the House, adding, “We will not attend. Parliamentary sessions should be held at least once a week. MPs cannot avoid questions from the public and must provide answers.”

Prime Minister Balen is expected to meet MPs from other provinces later, and invitations were also extended to the Shram Sanskriti Party for those sessions.
