NEPSE plunges 27.39 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 4.59 billion

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday declined by 27.39 points to close at 2,663.32 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,690.72 points and rose to the day’s high at 2,698.56 points in the first three minutes. However, the index went into a successive fall and hit the day’s low when the trading time was left for half an hour. The market recovered around 10 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, slid down 3.55 points. The daily turnover declined heavily to Rs 4.59 billion from Rs 7.09 billion on Monday.

Among individual companies, 35 were gainers whereas 207 companies were recorded as the losers.

Except mutual funds, the remaining 12 groups were the losers. Non-life insurance with a downfall of 190.66 points was the biggest loser, while a total of four groups lost three-digit points.

NLG Insurance Company Ltd had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 271.76 million. While Eastern Hydropower Limited lost the highest of 8.50 percent of its market value, Mid Solu Hydropower Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
