KATHMANDU, Feb 3: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday increased marginally by 2.41 points to close at 2,730 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,727.58 points and rose to the day’s high at 2,764.17 points in the first one hour. The index however went downhill and hit the day’s low at 2,722.55 points before the last four minutes. The market recovered around eight points in the remaining trading time before it closed for the day.
Seven out of the 13 groups were the gainers, with non-life insurance posting the largest growth of 108.84 percent in its market value. Of the six losers, finance lost the highest of 28.10 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 1.23 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 11.87 billion from Rs 12.95 billion on Sunday.
Among individual companies, 97 were gainers while 137 were registered as losers. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 353.07 million.
Two companies including Upakar Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Bhugol Energy Development Company Limited were the topmost gainers. Green Development Bank and River Falls Power Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of their market values.
