KATHMANDU, June 16: Daily turnover at Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) escalated to three-month high at Rs 13.18 billion on Monday, while the index increased marginally by 2.80 points to close at 2,658.66 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,655.85 points and gradually rose to the day’s high at 2,679.69 points within the first two hours. The index however fell in half an hour and hovered at around 2,664 points for the next one hour before the market slid down to close for the day.

Five out of 13 groups were the losers, with hydropower shading the largest of 37 points in its index. Of the eight gainers, hotels and tourism surged by 323.37 points, the highest of all.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 0.25 points. The daily turnover amount rose by Rs 1.74 billion compared to the amount recorded on Sunday.
Among the individual companies, 124 were gainers while equal numbers of companies were recorded as the losers. Two companies including Sanima Mai Hydropower and Ngadi Group Power had turnover of their shares worth over Rs 900 million.
Pure Energy Limited gained the highest of 10 percent of its market value. With a decline of 7.58 percentage points, Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company was recorded as the topmost loser.
