NEPSE inches up 2.15 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 13.91 billion

KATHMANDU, July 22: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday increased slightly by 2.15 points to close at 2,488.09 points.

The market that opened at 2,485.94 points initially surged to the day high at 2,504.53 points in the first six minutes. The index, however, dropped to the day’s low at 2,442.33 points in the next one hour. The market then went to an inclining trend in the remaining trading hours and recovered around 46 points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies dropped 0.89 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 13.91 billion from Rs 15.23 billion on Sunday.  

Six out of the 13 groups had their market values declined. Development bank lost the highest of 31.58 points. Of the seven gainers, manufacturing and processing added the highest of 160.07 points.

Among individual companies, 115 were recorded as gainers whereas 121 were the losers.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 369.34 million. Muktinath Krishi Company Limited was the topmost gainer while Ganapati Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited had its market price declined by the highest of 9.94 percent.
