Four killed in Palpa bus mishap, 14 injured in separate accident in Baglung

BUTWAL, Nov 27: The ongoing fuel crisis created by the undeclared Indian blockade has led to many road accidents across the country of late. Fewer vehicles have been plying on the roads which has led to overcrowding of the public vehicles to a dangerous level.

In yet another incident of road mishap, four persons died while 26 others sustained injuries when a jeep (Lu 1 Ja 1922) slipped and plunged some 300 meters down in Jhadewa VDC-2 of Palpa district on Friday morning.


Similarly, 14 people sustained injuries in Bihu VDC of Baglung district along the Mid-Hill Highway on the same day.

According to District Police Office (DPO), Palpa, the jeep en route to Gothadi VDC from the district headquarters Tansen slipped off the road while giving way to a wedding-party bus at around 10 am.

The deceased have been identified as Rambha Devi Gaha, 60, of Jhadewa-4, Khadka Bahadur Chauhan, 34, of Rahabas-6, Tek Bahadur Lungche, 71, of Gothadi-3, and Bhumisara Baral, 60, of Rahabas-5. Baral died on the way to hospital while the other three died on the spot, according to Police Inspector Chandra Kishor Shah.

Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, locals and health workers had reached the incident site for the rescue operation. The injured are undergoing treatment in Lumbini Medical College of Tansen. Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

According to the DPO of Baglung, the bus (Na 4 Kha 9217) en route to Burtibang from Kathmandu fell some 20 meters down, injuring 14 passengers. Three among them are critically injured, informed DSP Chakra Bahadur KC of the DPO.

The injured are undergoing treatment in Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital.
