Nine killed in Nisikhola bus accident

BAGLUNG, March 19: One more person who was injured in the Baglung bus accident has been confirmed dead. With this, the death toll in the Baglung bus accident has reached nine.


The ill-fated bus (Pra 01-006 Kha 3879), en route from East Rukum to Kathmandu met with an accident on Madhya Pahadi Lokmarga at Jaulepani, Nisikhola Rural Municipality-6, Baglung.

A total of 28 individuals sustained injuries in the accident. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madan KC informed that one injured individual is receiving treatment at Burtibang Primary Health Center, while the remaining 27 have been admitted to Dhawalagiri Hospital in Baglung.Lucky Pun Magar, 18, from Musikot-1, Dailekh, Binita KC, 27, from Musikot-1, Rukum West Municipality, Babidadel Nepali, the vehicle owner from Musikot-4, Ratamata, Tika KC 35, from Solabang, Musikot Municipality-3, Kalpana KC, Sankhi, bus driver Mansingh BK alias Subas Gautam, hailing from Rolpa, Geeta Thapa of Gorkha, Sujan Maharjan of Lalitpur and Bikram Pariyar, 25 of Sisne Rural Municipality, Rukum East are reported to have died in the accident.


The bus plunged 150 meters off the road, resulting in seven immediate fatalities and two more deaths during treatment at Burtibang Primary Health Center. Most of the deceased are from Rukum. 


DSP KC mentioned that the bodies of the seven victims who died at the scene were transported to Rukum on Monday night. The bodies of the two other victims are being kept at Burtibang Primary Health Center. Given the limited medical facilities in Burtibang, the injured were referred to Dhawalagiri Hospital in Baglung.
