PALPA, June 1: Fourteen staffers were killed and 10 others have sustained serious injuries after a bus fell 200 meters down the road at Rambha rural municipality-4, according to DSP Binod Ghimire. The passenger bus (Lu 1 Kha 975) was en route to Rampur from Palpa, Tansen.
The ill-fated bus veered off the road while allowing a jeep approaching from opposite direction to pass by. The bus was carrying staffers of Laxmi Finance Savings and Credit Cooperative for a picnic when it.
Those injured are receiving treatment at Lumbini Medical Hospital and United Mission Hospital.
UPDATE: Death toll in Palpa landslides climbs to three
A team led by Chief District Officer, Bishnu Prasad Dhakal is on the way for rescue operations.
Those deceased have been identified as
Kamala Karki, Loknath Dhakal Basanti Khand, Devendra Lala Pradhan, Krishna Man Bajracharya and Chatraman Shakya (Tansen-3),
Bishu Man Bajracharya (Tansen-4),
Geeta Budathoki, Sachin Bajracharya, Durga Bahadur Saru and Sushil Prasad Shrestha (Tansen-6),
Chairperson of Division Cooperative, Palpa Krishna Bahadur Bohora

Name of one deceased woman is yet to be identified. Kamala Karki and Sachin Bajracharya lost their lives while undergoing treatment at Lumbini Medical College and United Mission Hospital respectively while the remaining had passed away on the spot.
Those injured include Prafulla Sharma, conductor Bimal Ranjan, Uttam Kumar Bajracharya, Om Malego, Mina Khamcha, driver Arjun Thapa and Prabin Bajracharya, Santam Bajracharya and Purna Maya Bajracharya.
Purna Maya is undergoing treatment at Lumbini Medical College while the rest are receiving treatment at Mission Hospital. The driver along with three others have been referred to Kathmandu for further treatment.
