BIZ BRIEFS: SCBNL opens day care center for staff

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd (SCBNL) has opened a Day Care Centre at the premises of its head offices in New Baneshwar for its employees with young children. In a statement Sunday, SCBNL said the center was jointly inaugurated by Maiti Nepal Founder Director Anuradha Koirala and Executive Director of the government’s Social Security Fund Kewal Prasad Bhandari. Speaking on the occasion, Koirala praised the efforts made by SCBNL for leading the way to address issues relating to working parents. Bhandari also lauded the initiative taken by the bank This initiative allows parents with young children working at the bank to closely look after their young children in a safe environment as per their convenience and requirement, SCBNL said.



New TCL chest freezer in market


KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): EOL -- the authorized distributor of TCL in Nepal -- has introduced new model of chest freezer with the capacity of 600 liters. According to a press statement, TCL chest freezer has modern features like quick and deep freezing, mechanical temperature control with power indicator, quality A-ally embossed inner container, defrost scrapper, clean back, water disposal device, castors for easy movement which is very beneficial for every departmental store, mart, dairy and ice-cream shops, meat shop and small dealers to store things. A total of six models namely TCF 15Q, 20Q, 30Q, 40Q and 50Q are launched in the hard top design category and 20QFG in the category of hard top flat glass door, said the statement. The capacity of these models ranges from 115 liters to 600 liters. A total of eight models of TCL chest freezers are currently available in the market.



Sagarmatha Cement in market

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Ghorahi Cement Industry Pvt Ltd (GCIPL) has introduced Sagarmatha OPC Cement in the market. The Ghorahi-based company can produce 750 tons of Sagarmatha Cement per day using a Thai technology in which automated grinding unit is equipped with automated rotary-packers which prevent leakage and gives precision packing of net 50kg, the company said in a statement on Thursday. “The quality of SC is not only well above the national standards of Nepal, but also complying with the highest standard of OPC cement (53 Grade) as available elsewhere in the world,” it said. The company said it has been providing jobs to around 1,000 people and planning to make a significant contribution in substituting imports.



Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, the company has been providing free electricity to nearby schools and hospitals, rewards and internship opportunities to engineering college toppers and set aside Re 1 per bag of cement sold for GCIPL Welfare Trust, it said. The statement also said that the firm has invested almost 300 million on technology and equipment that will control and keep a close watch on air, noise and water pollution.
