KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the promulgation of the new constitution through the Constituent Assembly (CA) has institutionalised the desires and aspirations held by people for achievement of the political and social rights since the last seven decades.

In a greetings message delivered on the occasion of Bada Dashain, PM Oli said the Nepal's Constitution was promulgated on September 20 through the people-elected CA as a result of Nepali people's long and relentless struggle.

Underlining the country's natural and bio-diversity and other heritages as unrivalled in the world, PM Oli stressed the need to make full use of the natural heritages to propel the country on a path of economic prosperity.

PM Oli took note of the fact that there were dissatisfactions in some parts of the country prior to the promulgation of the new constitution and added such discontent ended with the delivery of the new constitution.

The PM also spoke of the letter he had sent to the Madhes-centric parties on behalf of the government with a pledge to address the reasonable demands. The committee formed by the government for dialogue has already started its work, he said.

"The constitution is an instrument of continuous progression so if we find any defects in it we can rectify it through meaningful dialogue and talks," PM Oli stated in the message, adding, "On this occasion of Bada Dashain, I would like to reiterate my appeal to the Madhes-centric parties to stop the agitation and come to negotiations."

Stating that common Nepali people were compelled to face pain and difficulties during the festive season due to the unease seen in the import of essential supplies including fuel products following the obstruction at the border area, PM Oli said the government has been proactively mounting initiatives to ease the import.

PM Oli said he was extremely sensitive and aggrieved at the unwarranted pain the Nepali people are suffering at the time of festive season. He further expressed commitment to respecting the patience, restraint and sentiment of national unity shown by common citizens during this time of complexity and difficulty.

"Our country is a multi religious, multi linguistic and multi cultural country," PM said while adding, "Our rituals, cultures and beautiful traditions have coalesced common Nepali for hundreds of years. This is a matter of pride for us. I would like to make an announcement to all for their efforts in giving continuity to this proud history and to keep the country unified and integrated."

The PM on behalf of the government and on his own has extended humble greetings and wishes to all the Nepali people living in the country and abroad on the occasion of Bada Dashain 2072. RSS
