KATHMANDU, April 8: The police have arrested 10 Bangladeshi citizens for visa overstay. They were handed to the Department of Immigration on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a writ of mandamus against the decision of the Department of Immigration (DoI) for ‘arbitrarily’ detaining foreign nationals. A joint bench of justices Prakashman Singh Raut and Hari Prasad Phuyal has issued an order to send the foreign nationals back to their own country, ruling they were being detained in the Jagannath Dewal Jail in Sundhara, Kathmandu, against the law.

SC says travel ban on Bista unlawful

KATHMANDU, Nov 1: The Department of Immigration’s decision to bar former Maoist child solider Lenin Bista from travelling abroad was unlawful, the Supreme Court has ruled. Responding to a writ petition filed by Bista, a division bench of SC Justice Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Kumar Regmi on Thursday said that the authorities concerned had breached laws and violated Bista’s fundamental rights by prohibiting him from travelling to Thailand.

Tourist arrivals up by 39%

KATHMANDU, March 12: Tourist arrivals to Nepal posted a year-on-year growth of 39 percent in February.
