Young climbers rocks the Open Junior Climbing Competition

In order to influence, inspire and promote rising athlete climbers, Kathmandu Sports Climbing Center (KSCC) organized its first Open Junior Climbing Competition on Saturday. 105 participants including 50 female and 55 male climbers participated at the top-rope climbing competition.

 In order to influence, inspire and promote rising athlete climbers, Kathmandu Sports Climbing Center (KSCC) organized its first Open Junior Climbing Competition on Saturday. 105 participants including 50 female and 55 male climbers participated at the top-rope climbing competition.


The event started with briefing and the qualification round of two route wall climbing in vertical wall. The final round included 45ft top-rope climbing in overhang wall which was followed by winner’s announcement. The competition required the climbers to press the bell buzzer as they managed to reach on the top.

The event hosted by Lamawalks saw an active participation of the viewers and supporters. Amid all the under-16 male and female participants, 15-year-old Ronak Upreti won the competition on male category. 11-year-old Ujjwol Bansi secured 2nd place followed by 10-year-old Suman Sunar securing the 3rd.


Likewise, 12-year-old Meenisha Dhamala won the competition on female category. 14-year-old Prena Rai secured second place while 8-year-old Tenzing Lhamu Tsomba secured the third. The winners were awarded with gift hampers from Haushala creative and cash prize.
