When city returns to firewood age .........

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: People have turned to traditional fuel firewood following the unofficial blockade imposed by India. Due to the shortage of cooking gas in the market and ever increasing load-shedding hours partly caused by poor management of the concerned body, people have finally turned to only available means, i.e., firewood and cow-dung to prepare two meals a day.

Now –a-days it has been common to see people in the Kathmandu Valley ferrying firewood on their back or in vehicles. The firewood is not easily available either. Those available are too costly.

At a time when Nepali people are already accustomed to smoke-free kitchen equipped with solar power, natural gas and electrical equipments, they have been forced to use firewood.
