The Nepali team left Kathmandu on Tuesday evening as Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) made arrangement of collecting their passports at Delhi Airport. [break]CAN sent its executive committee member Basanta Raj Satyal (Arun) to New Delhi Tuesday morning for collecting the players´ travel documents from the UK authority.
However, vice-captain Malla has been asked to furnish more documents and to go through an interview at the High Commission in Delhi on Wednesday.
According to CAN General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakuryal, Malla and team´s video analyst Raman Siwakoti flew to Delhi late afternoon Tuesday. "While Siwakoti will fly to the UK and then to Bermuda along with other members of the team, Malla will go to the British High Commission for interview," said Pyakuryal. "We are hopeful that everything will go well and Malla will also join the team later," he added.
CAN has included Naresh Budhayair in the team as a possible replacement of Malla. Budhayair flew along with the team on Tuesday. "If Malla gets visa, Budhayair would be considered only as reserve player. Otherwise, he will replace Malla," said a CAN member.
According the CAN member, British Embassy in Kathmandu had informed the High Commission about the seriousness and urgency of visas for the Nepali team on Tuesday morning upon the request of CAN.
Nepali team is scheduled to play a practice match against Bermuda XI on April 25 before starting the Division 3 campaign on April 28 against the USA.
Division 3 is the most important tournament for Nepal at present as the top two teams of Division 3 will not only earn promotion to Division 2 but also progress to the World Cup Qualifiers 2014.
