MYAGDI, July 26: A patient with symptoms similar to the Nairobi fly infection has been found in Beni, the headquarters of Myagdi. Patients with skin problems showing symptoms similar to the Nairobi fly infection have started coming to health institutions.

Kumar Baniya, operator of Beni Sanjiwani Health Clinic located in Beni, said that five patients with symptoms similar to the Nairobi fly infection visited the clinic in the last few days. "The symptoms are all similar to those of the Nairobi Fly infection," said Baniya.

Baniya published photos of patients who had come to the clinic with skin allergies and wounds through social media. On the other hand, the head of Beni Hospital, Dr Jitendra Kandel said that although the number of patients with skin problems has increased, there are no case reports in Beni Hospital of the Nairobi fly infection. “There is a risk of infection, precaution is necessary, even if the problem is caused by insects, it will gradually heal itself,” Kandel said. If a suspicious patient is found, he will be sent for further tests, Kandel said.

Dr Kadel encouraged cleaning the area where the Nairobi fly worm has left acid on the skin with soap and water. Kandel suggests seeing a dermatologist in case of a lot of burning, itching, and wounds. Doctors say that since it is the time of transplanting paddy, this worm is seen in places where there is a lot of rain, so precaution is necessary.

The Nairobi fly is a small black and brown insect. According to crop experts, this pest attacks insects that help in crop production. In the process, it settles on the skin of farmers and causes infection.
