SOLUKHUMBU, Dec 9: The construction of a bridge over the Likhu river connecting Chaulakharka of Solukhumbu and Ramechap's Gumdel VDC still remains incomplete four years after the start of the work.
The construction started in 2069 BS under an agreement between Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development's Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Agriculture Roads (DoLIDAR) and Siruwa Lokpriyadevi Construction.
The failure to complete the construction of the bridge has dashed the hopes of the villagers living in Goli VDC, Chaulakharka and Bhakanje. This has also hampered the construction of a road leading to the capital city from Chaulakharka and Ramechap.
At an investment of Rs 35 million, an agreement was reached to complete the construction by 2070 BS, but the construction work halted for at least two years.
The work resumed only after the contractor company was put under pressure through a public hearing programme held in the presence of Solukhumbu's lawmaker Bal Bahadur KC and DoLIDAR technicians around nine months ago. RSS
