KATHMANDU, June 2 : The US Embassy in Kathmandu has donated various medical essentials to the Armed Police Force (APF) to help fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The medical essentials handed over to the APF include more than 660 full sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), 7,000 Viral Transport Medium (VTMs), and 4,800 RNA extraction kits. The PPE sets include caps, face shields, masks, gloves, gowns, and boots.
Production and supply of daily essentials to continue
This was the US Embassy’s Department of Defense (DOD) Team’s 6th donation funded by the Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster Assistance, and Civic Aid program. "We are in the process of finalizing our next procurement this week," said a source at the US Embassy in Kathmandu.
APF personnel are deployed along the porous Indo-Nepal border to check cross border movement in order to help contain the spread of COVID-19. They are currently facing huge risks of being infected by the COVID-19 due to the lack of necessary personal protective equipment.
