US-based anti-scam institute for Nepal raises Rs 84 lakh

NEW YORK, Nov 7: Texas-based Hem Sarita Pathak Academy, which has been launching campaigns against Nepal’s corruption, has been able to collect 8,400,000 rupees within a half-an-hour.



Expressing satisfaction over the laudable work by the Academy, the people from different walks of life have donated 84,500 USD to the Academy during the fund-raising campaign on last Sunday.  [break]



During the fund-raising campaign, American-based Indian industrialists Amir Ali and Yasir Mahammad had donated 30,000 and 15,000 USD respectively in the presence of Chief Custodian of the Academy Hem Pathak and Consulate General Prem Raja Mahat.



Similarly, Nepali social workers and entrepreneurs Bala Ghimire and Mani Pradhan had helped out the Academy 10,000 USD each while Banu Babu, Silwal, Durga Dahal, Shima, Ashish Kattel had donated 5000 USD each to the Academy.



Likewise, Jeni Pathak and Dipak Humagain donated 1000 USD each to the institute on the occasion.



"The collected amount will be used for the upkeep and  upgradation of Ugratara Lower Secondary School based in Sankhu, Kathmandu. It will be upgraded up to plus 2 level, equipped with required class rooms, library, toilets," said Pathak.



Meanwhile, Nirmal and Bina Shrestha pledged to construct a hostel building for as many as 30 students chosen among 150 poor and diligent ones across the country.
