"Some youth from a club at Dhading came to Kagati village demanding money," Assistant Sub-Inspector of police Kakani police, Nuwakot district Chitra Gurung told myrepublica.com over phone. "Locals also allege that some cadres of Young Communist League (YCL) were involved in the attack but we are not sure and have come here to investigate," Gurung said from the clash site.
Gurung also said that khukuri (machete)-wielding youths from Dhading have been empowered by locals of Kagati village and are currently in their control.
Rabin Man Shrestha, chief of environment department, KMC, however said that according information available to them locals from two neighboring villages – Balami and Sinkhada – clashed over dispute over stone-mining.
Maheshwar Bhujel, site assistant manager from KMC at Okharpauwa also said the two groups of locals clashed over stone-mining. He said that an official of District Development Committee (DDC) was injured in the clash. He said at least three others were injured.
