Issuing a press statement, Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Nepal Karin Landgren said the agreement reached between the parties yesterday over the appointment of the coordinator of the secretariat is a welcome development. Landgren also called upon the parties to come to a swift agreement on all decisions needed to help facilitate the orderly withdrawal of UNMIN.
A meeting of Special Committee meant to forward integration and rehabilitation of cantoned Maoist combatants on Tuesday had unanimously picked Sharma as the secretariat coordinator after the Maoist dropped their claim for the post.
