KATHMANDU, Oct 7: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has revised its visit visa regulations, linking sponsorship eligibility to the sponsor’s monthly income.
According to the new rule, individuals wishing to sponsor family members or friends must meet specific minimum salary requirements, ranging from AED 4,000 to AED 15,000, depending on the category.
Under the first category of first-degree relatives — which includes parents, spouses, and children — sponsors must earn at least AED 4,000 per month.

The second category, covering second and third degree relatives such as siblings and grandparents, requires a minimum monthly income of AED 8,000.
For friends or non-relatives, the income threshold is higher — sponsors must earn at least AED 15,000 per month.
The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) said the income-based criteria aim to enhance transparency and regulate the process of sponsoring relatives and friends on visit visas. Applicants are also required to provide proof of relationship.
In addition, applicants must possess a passport valid for at least six months and a return air ticket when applying for the visa.
