Traffic police arrested red-handed while taking bribes of Rs 25,000

A team from the CIAA arrested Budhathoki red-handed while he was accepting Rs 25,000 bribe from the service seeker under the pretext of facilitating the movement of vehicles.

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a charge sheet in the Special Court Kathmandu against Sub Inspector of Police Lalit Kumar Budhathoki of District Traffic Police Office, Rolpa.


A team from the CIAA arrested Budhathoki red-handed while he was accepting Rs 25,000 bribe from the service seeker under the pretext of facilitating the movement of vehicles.

A team deployed from the Nepalgunj Regional Office under the Butwal Office of the CIAA arrested him when he had already taken the money.


According to the CIAA, Budhathoki has committed an offense under Subsection (1) of Section 3 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS. Based on the same act, the CIAA has filed a case in a special court, demanding imprisonment and a restitution of Rs 25,000.


In a press release issued by the CIAA’s spokesperson, Narahari Ghimire, it has been assured that legal action will be taken impartially against the guilty.
